Simply Supported Beam, Uniformly Distributed Load (UDL),
q [force/length]

Input: Values of applied distributed load and length*
q =  value of UDL (positive up, force/length)
L =  total length of beam

Output: Reactions at Wall:
RA =  reaction at Left Support (A) (+ up)
RB =  reaction at Right Support (B) (+ up)

Magnitude of Maximum Shear and Moment:
Vmax =  magnitude of Max. Shear Force
Mmax =  magnitude of Max. Moment at x = L/2.

  • You are responsible for using consistent units: [pounds & inches], [pounds & feet], [newtons & meters], etc.
  • Do not mix inches and feet, meters and millimeters, inches and meters, etc.
  • Results are in terms of the units system you are using. If you enter the force in pounds and the distances in feet, the resulting forces are in pounds, and moments in pound-feet.
