Cantilever Beam, Linearly Decreasing Distributed Load,  q =[1-x/L]qo

Input: Dist. Load q [force/length] and beam length.*
   qo =  maximum value of distributed load (positive upward, force per unit length)
    L =  length of beam.

Output: Reaction force and moment at wall:
   R  =   force at wall (+ upward)
   M =   moment at wall (+ clockwise)
The maximum values of shear force and bending moment occur at the wall.

  • Use consistent units: [pounds & inches], [pounds & feet], [newtons & meters], etc.
  • Do not mix inches and feet, meters and millimeters, inches and meters, etc.
  • Results are in terms of the units system you are using. If you enter the force in pounds and the distances in feet, the resulting forces are in pounds, and moments in pound-feet.
