Practice Problem 1-4 |
Given: The three spans of the Brooklyn Bridge total approximately 3,456 ft. A jogger runs on the bridge at 3.0 meters per second (m/s). Req'd: How fast is the jogger running in miles per hour (mph)? |
Solution: Referring to Table 4, 1 mi. = 1609 m, or 1 m = 0.0006215 mi. The speed of the runner in mph is then: V = 3 m/s * 0.0006215 mi./m * 3600 s/hr = 6.71 mph. |
